Declaration on the accessibility of the UMG website

The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) strives to make its websites and mobile applications accessible. The websites should be designed in such a way that they comply with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament.

Scope of this accessibility statement

This declaration on accessibility applies to the central information services of the Executive Board of the University Medical Center Göttingen on the Internet, which can be accessed via the URL www.med.uni-goettingen.de, www.umg.eu and www.universitaetsmedizin-goettingen.de as well as to all websites and subdomains of the non-legal departments, institutes and other administrative units of the University Medical Center Göttingen, which are located in the central typo3 system of the UMG. Excluded from this declaration are other websites and subdomains that were not created in the UMG's central content management system (CMS). Responsibility for the content of these websites lies with the respective departments or persons who created the pages.

How accessible is the website?

The website partially fulfills the requirements of BITV 2.0.

When designing the website, the focus was on

• clear structuring of the information, e.g. through headings and formatting
• High-contrast labeling of the texts
• clear navigation and operating elements, e.g. breadcrumb navigation
• strict separation of content, structure and design
• semantic HTML
• flexible adaptation of the display to the end device and its screen size (responsive design)
• Provision of information in simple language
• Speaking URLs
• Completion aids for forms, e.g. marking of mandatory fields

Which areas are not accessible?

• Some PDF documents are not barrier-free. The large number of files, some of which are older documents, will take some time to convert into accessible formats.
• Not all videos embedded on www.umg.eu have subtitles. We are working on making these accessible.
• It may happen that images and objects do not contain alt texts or that link texts are not clear. Abbreviations and sections in foreign languages are not labeled. We are also working on making these accessible.

We are making every effort to remove any remaining barriers.

The content listed is not barrier-free for the following reasons:

As a university medical center, we have a very extensive website with numerous subpages and subdomains, which are maintained by several hundred decentralized editors. Errors in content design and consistency are therefore unavoidable.

In some cases, the technical requirements for unrestricted, accessible content design first had to be created. It is also often necessary to re-edit pages, images and documents, which takes a lot of time. Due to the large number of documents provided that were created before 23.09.2018, it has not yet been possible to convert them into an accessible format.

Adjusting the font size

Readers of the website can adjust the font size to their personal requirements: The key combination Ctrl+ enlarges the font, Ctrl- reduces it. The key combination Ctrl0 restores the original size.
