Mechanical heart support promotes regeneration of heart muscle cells
A study team led by Olaf Bergmann has found that patients with advanced heart failure experience significantly increased regeneration of their heart muscle cells through the use of a left ventricular assist device (LVAD), a mechanical pump for cardiac support. The results were published in ‘Circulation’.
