Masters of Science (Cardiovascular Medicine)
General Information
Since October 2015, the Faculty of Medicine at the Georg-August-University Göttingen has offered an internationally recognised Masters of Science (Cardiovascular Science) program. The program commences in October each year and operates in a consecutive, full-time mode over four semesters. The entire course is conducted in English. The program has been designed with a modular structure with a comprehensive curriculum focusing on scientific, cardiovascular-related questions.
This program is targeted at students who have an undergraduate degree in medicine and/or the natural sciences, and offers reserach-based training to succeed in the cardiovascular field. The coursework covers cutting-edge scientific approaches and clinical aspects which are indispensable to translate basic findings. A central feature of this course is its heavy focus on individual practical training permitting students an insight into the everyday life of a research scientist. The program concludes with the submission on a Master's Thesis afterwhich students should be well prepared for a career in cardiovascular research within academia, industry or other professional fields.
Please note: this is a scientific Masters program. For medical doctors (eg: graduates with a MBBS, MD, etc.), this program is NOT equivalent to consultant training.

Applicants must have obtained a Bachelor degree of at least six semesters of full-time study (minimum of 180 ECTS credits) in the fields of molecular medicine, biochemistry, biology or other "life science". This study must be completed by 30.09.2016. Equivalent qualifications are also recognized.
Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate sufficient working knowledge (eg. TOEFL, IELTS, CEF with at least C1 level, or other equivalent tests). If you have studied for at least six months', lived or worked in an English speaking country, or can provide evidence that you have completed a Bachelor degree completely in English (eg. completion of the Molecular Medicine program at Georg-August-University Göttingen), this will also suffice.
Program Structure
Students are required to attain 120 ECTS credits within 24 months of study to attain the degree of MSc (Cardiovascular Science). This is broken up into 107 ETCS compulsory credit points, and 13 ETCS elective credit points. A detailed description of the various modules within this course can be found HERE.
